A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as pardoning holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a ceremonial pardon event this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a local firefighter, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “six-seven” – originating from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Annually, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
