Fans Urge Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who jumped a fence and touched the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating video shows the Australian man pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the event by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being detained", though legal records revealed that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
History of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes recordings of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Numerous fans blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the end of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said a further message on Instagram.
Some fans also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos circulating online, Grande appeared startled when she was touched by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a dual adaptation of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two contrasting witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a rosé glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful movie of the previous year in the UK, and scored a dozen award recognitions, earning two for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
