After a pivotal victory at the Qatar Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver has significantly closed the gap in the title race. "We have triumphed where maybe we shouldn't have, through the correct decision as a unit," Verstappen added. "The partnership with my team on the pit wall and the whole team... we are perfectly synchronized."

As the teams head to Abu Dhabi, the mathematics is perfectly defined.

• The championship leader is in position to win his first-ever world title if he beats both his two rivals or takes a place on the rostrum.
• The challenger has to take the checkered flag first and requires that his rival finishes off the podium.
• Oscar Piastri, who is by 16 points, must also win and witness Norris place outside the top five.
