The President Welcomes Relatives of Injured National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence
Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Devastating Event
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.
White House Call
The president said he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Response
Attendees gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to help others.”
Memorial plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Government Revisions
Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and cease granting visas to holders of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Bondi told a news show that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
