The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The song was recorded in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The song showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from mid-December.
