The Streaming Giant Casts Ideal Star for Bentham in the Hit Series Season 3
Baroque Works is set to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, popular member has now been chosen.
The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bon Clay. Bon Clay possesses the power to change into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve touched with their right hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that figure reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action show, as in the original manga and cartoon version.
Escola will work alongside multiple fresh additions tasked with bringing the group to life, featuring chief Sir Crocodile, brought to life by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the lineup as the ruler of the fictional land.
Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. With season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this marks a significant shift in the timing of their first appearance, one that could suggest more adjustments to the plot development.
The actor’s combination of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the part. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.
Netflix's live-action One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its season two on the tenth of March, 2026.
