Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important official stated the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
